How to Volunteer

Access Books has no paid full-time employees and therefore relies on the assistance of volunteers. Lend your planning skills, marketing or artistic ability or any available free time to help. If you would like to spend an upcoming Saturday refurbishing a school library, please check our calendar and sign up for an event.

Start a Book Drive

While Access Books supplies school libraries with brand new hardcover books, we like to work with a sponsor to build classroom library sets. Please consider sponsoring an under-served school by conducting a book drive on its behalf. Examples of past sponsors include schools from affluent communities, corporations, individuals, Girl Scout troops and high school students working on community service projects.

Donate Books

If you have books you would like to donate, please visit our book donation page for more details about how and where to bring your book donation. Access Books is seeking good quality, high-interest books for elementary school students. We cannot use library discards or adult books. Please consider donating these materials elsewhere. Thank you!

Cash Donations

Many of our schools operate with little or no funding, so money is always needed to purchase books. We rely on the generosity of individual donors, sponsors and grant-makers to provide under-served children with the kind of libraries enjoyed by their more affluent peers. Please consider donating money to support literacy in disadvantaged communities. If you'd like to make a cash donation to Access Books, please click the Donate button below. All donations are tax-deductible.
