Rebecca Constantino interviewed on 102.7 KIIS FM Listen to the interview here. From the Community Council’s website: “Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, non-profit Access Books refurbishes the libraries of California’s most impoverished elementary school libraries in our cities’ most underserved communities. Over the past 17 years, Access Books has served 247 schools in Los Angeles and surrounding areas and has donated nearly 1.4 million books. But many more schools remain on a waiting list. With 94% of funding going directly to programs – and aided by grants, sponsors and 10,000+ volunteers, including the students, parents and staff of the schools it serves – the average refurbishment costs approx. $17,500 but is valued at more than triple that figure (approx. $60,000). At least 90% of the children served by the non-profit live in poverty.”
